In 1927, Pan American Airlines was incorporated. In 1950, B-R Walters became the first female medical officer assigned to a naval vessel. In 1959, Groucho, Chico and Harpo Marx made their final television appearance together. In 1966, Casey Stengel was elected to the Baseball Hall-of-Fame. In 1972, the Goodyear blimp flew for the first time. In 1973, Grateful Dead co-founder Ron "Pigpen" McKernan died at the age of 27. In 1991, troops began arriving home from the Persian Gulf. In 1991, rapper L-L Cool J made his movie debut in "The Hard Way." In 1992, former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin died of heart failure. In 1993, animator Mike Judge created "Beavis and Butthead" for MTV. In 1993, bandleader Billy Eckstein died at the age of 78. In 1994, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain was released from a Rome hospital, four days after lapsing into a drug induced coma. In 1996, Dr. Jack Kevorkian was acquitted of assisted suicide for helping two suffering patients kill themselves. In 1998, Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Ray Nitschke died at the age of 61. In 1999, New York Yankees baseball star Joe DiMaggio died at the age of 84. In 2003, civil rights icon Rosa Parks declined an invitation to the 34th Annual NAACP Image Awards. Parks was not happy with the civil rights organization's decision to recognize the movie "Barbershop" in which a character, played by comedian Cedric the Entertainer, makes fun of Parks and a number of other civil rights leaders. In 2004, in her first public comments since she was convicted on charges connected to her sale of ImClone stock, domestic diva Martha Stewart thanked her readers, viewers and Internet users for their support. In 2004, actor Robert Pastorelli was found dead in his home in the Hollywood Hills. Pastorelli was best known for his role as Eldin, a house painter on the long-running CBS comedy "Murphy Brown." He was 49.
