| DeLay: Doing Nothing Will Win Seats For Republicans By: MetroSoruce News (Sugarland, TX) -- Republicans will win seats if they do nothing. That's the word from former U.S. House Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay. He told CNN's "State of the Union" he doesn't think Republicans are prepared to maximize their votes, but that won't stop them from gaining ground during the midterm elections. DeLay also praised Senator Jim Bunning for blocking legislation to provide unemployment compensation extensions to thousands of Americans, calling his move "brave." DeLay said Bunning would have voted for the legislation up front if Democrats had proposed a way to fund the bill, which eventually passed. DeLay said the jobless tend to stay on unemployment and quote, "don't look for a job until two or three weeks before they know the benefits are going to run out."
